Production Options: Digital vs. Offset

For qualifying One Time Sends, Poplar offers two production options: Digital and Offset. Both have their advantages, so choosing the best option will depend on your send.

Digital Printing

Digital printing is Poplar's default printing option. It is a modern printing method that transfers digital files directly onto the printing surface without the need for plates allowing for dynamic printing (e.g. personalized mailers) and consistent cost per-piece. Digital printing requires less setup time making it ideal for short runs, and fast turnaround times.

  • Best for: Personalized Creatives, Fast Turnaround, Short Runs
  • Production Time: 1-3 days
  • Costs: Fixed Price Per Piece
  • Supported Formats: All formats, static or dynamic creatives

Offset Printing

Offset printing is a traditional method that uses plates to transfer ink onto a rubber blanket, then onto the printing surface. It's best suited for larger print runs where setup costs are offset by lower per-unit costs. Offset printing excels in color accuracy and image sharpness, making it ideal for high-volume, high-quality projects. We're excited to offer Poplar Offset as an option to all organizations currently subscribed to a Lite, Pro, or Enterprise plan! To get started, create a qualifying One Time Send (see below), and if your mailing qualifies for offset, you will see the option before processing.

  • Best for: High Volume Sends (50k+)
  • Production Time: 5-7 days
  • Costs: Variable price based on volume
  • Supported Formats: Postcards, Bifolds and Trifolds, Static Creatives Only

Poplar Offset Requirements

  • One Time Sends with over 50k mailable recipients (Email Enrichment is not supported)
  • All creatives must be PDF, JPG, or PNG formats and cannot include Letters
  • Must be subscribed to a Lite, Pro, or Enterprise plan

Pricing

Our variable pricing will be displayed in the One Time Send wizard and will depend on how many mailable addresses you have included. The first creative is included in the cost of your mailing. An additional $250 setup fee will be charged for each additional creative.
